OMD (Open Monitoring Distribution) is a performance monitoring and management solution which is widely used in many organizations for monitoring purposes. In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to install OMD on Arch Linux.
Before getting started, make sure that your system is up-to-date and that you have administrative privileges to install packages.
First, we need to download the OMD package from the official website. You can do this by running the following command:
wget https://labs.consol.de/repo/stable/omd-2.90.r2022.archlinux-1.x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
Once the package is downloaded, we can proceed to install it using pacman:
sudo pacman -U omd-2.90.r2022.archlinux-1.x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
After the installation, we can create a new site using the following command:
sudo omd create mysite
Once the site is created, we can start it using the following command:
sudo omd start mysite
After starting the site, you can access the OMD web interface by opening the following URL in your web browser:
http://localhost/mysite
OMD comes with Nagios, a powerful monitoring tool. In order to set up monitoring services, we need to first configure Nagios. This can be done by editing the Nagios configuration file:
sudo vim /omd/sites/mysite/etc/nagios/nagios.cfg
