Owncast is a self-hosted live streaming platform, which allows individuals and communities to run their own streaming servers. In this tutorial, we will be discussing how to install Owncast on Arch Linux.
Before installing Owncast, make sure that you have the following prerequisites:
Follow the below steps for the installation of Owncast on Arch Linux:
Make sure that your Arch Linux system is up-to-date by running the following command:
sudo pacman -Syu
Owncast requires the following dependencies to be installed on your Arch Linux system:
Install the required dependencies using the following command:
sudo pacman -S go ffmpeg youtube-dl
You can download Owncast using the following command:
git clone https://github.com/owncast/owncast.git
Now, navigate to the Owncast directory using the cd command to install Owncast:
cd owncast
Build Owncast and create the executable binary using the following command:
go build
After the successful build, run the Owncast server using the following command:
./owncast
The Owncast server is now running on your Arch Linux system. Browse the Owncast server using your web browser, and you should see the Owncast interface.
