Tabby is a terminal tab switcher for Linux that allows you to easily switch between multiple terminal sessions. If you're an Arch Linux user, you can install Tabby using the following steps:
Before we can install Tabby, we need to install its dependencies. Open a terminal window and run the following command:
sudo pacman -S gtk3 webkit2gtk
This command will install the GTK+3 and webkit2gtk libraries.
Next, we need to clone the Tabby repository from Github. To do this, open a terminal window and run the following command:
git clone https://github.com/bertvandepoel/tabby.git
This command will download the Tabby repository to your current directory.
Once you have cloned the repository, navigate to its directory using the cd
command:
cd tabby
Then, you can use the following command to build and install Tabby:
make && sudo make install
This will compile the source code and install Tabby on your system.
You can now run Tabby by opening a terminal window and running the following command:
tabby
This will launch the Tabby window, and you can use it to switch between multiple terminal sessions.
That's it! You have successfully installed Tabby on Arch Linux. Now you can use it to easily switch between multiple terminal sessions.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
