DailyNotes is a simple, lightweight and offline note-taking application developed by m0ngr31. In this tutorial, we will go through the steps of installing DailyNotes on the Clear Linux Latest operating system.
Before we begin, ensure that you have the following:
The first step is to ensure all the necessary dependencies are installed on your system. Open the terminal and run the following command:
sudo swupd bundle-add devpkg-gtk-doc devpkg-gtk3
This command will install the GTK3 and GTKDOC libraries required by DailyNotes to run.
Next, we will download and extract the DailyNotes package from the GitHub repository. Run the following commands in the terminal:
sudo mkdir /opt/DailyNotes
sudo wget https://github.com/m0ngr31/DailyNotes/releases/latest/download/dailynotes.tar.gz -P /opt/DailyNotes
sudo tar -zxvf /opt/DailyNotes/dailynotes.tar.gz -C /opt/DailyNotes/
To start DailyNotes, we will create a launcher for the application. In the terminal, run the following command:
sudo nano /usr/share/applications/DailyNotes.desktop
This will open a text editor where you can define the launcher. Add the following lines in the editor:
[Desktop Entry]
Name=DailyNotes
Exec=/opt/DailyNotes/dailynotes
Icon=gnome-notes
Type=Application
Categories=Office;
Save and close the file by pressing CTRL+X, then Y to confirm the changes.
Now we can launch DailyNotes. From the Activities menu, search for "DailyNotes" and click on the icon to start the application.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed DailyNotes on Clear Linux Latest. You can now use DailyNotes to jot down your notes and ideas on your computer without the need for an internet connection.
