This tutorial will guide you through the installation of Knot on the latest version of Clear Linux. Knot is a high-performance DNS server designed to be efficient and flexible.
Before you start, make sure you have administrative privileges on your system.
It's always a good idea to make sure your system is up-to-date before installing new software. You can update your Clear Linux system by running the following command:
$ sudo swupd update
To install Knot on Clear Linux, you can use the swupd command:
$ sudo swupd bundle-add knot
This will download and install the Knot DNS server and all of its dependencies.
Once Knot is installed, you'll need to configure it to suit your needs. The configuration file is located at /etc/knot/knot.conf
.
Open the knot.conf
file with your preferred text editor, and make any necessary changes to the configuration.
For example, you might want to change the port on which Knot listens for DNS requests, or specify the IP addresses of your authoritative DNS servers.
For more information on configuring Knot, see the official documentation.
Now that Knot is installed and configured, you can start the server by running the following command:
$ sudo systemctl start knot
You can also enable Knot to start automatically at boot time by running:
$ sudo systemctl enable knot
That's it! You should now have Knot installed and running on Clear Linux. As always, if you have any issues, consult the official documentation or seek help from the Knot community.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
