Phorge is a web-based application used for project management, code review, and task management. It's designed to help teams improve project development efficiency and productivity. In this tutorial, we will look at how to install Phorge on Clear Linux Latest.
Before you install Phorge on Clear Linux Latest, you need to have the following:
Phorge requires Apache and PHP. To install both of these run the following command:
sudo swupd bundle-add apache-php
Phorge also requires an SQL database. In this tutorial, we will use MariaDB. Run the following commands to install and start MariaDB:
sudo swupd bundle-add mariadb
sudo systemctl enable mariadb
sudo systemctl start mariadb
Next, we need to create a MariaDB database and user for Phorge. Run the following commands to log in to the MariaDB shell as the root user:
sudo mysql -u root -p
Now, create a new database and user with privileges on the newly created database:
CREATE DATABASE dbname;
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbname.* TO 'user'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
Make sure to replace dbname, user, and password with your desired values.
Exit the MariaDB shell by running the following command:
exit
Next, we need to download and install Phorge. Run the following command to download the latest version of Phorge:
wget https://we.phorge.it/source/phorge/archive/master.zip
Once the download is complete, unzip the file by running the following command:
unzip master.zip
Now, move the unzipped directory to the document root of the Apache web server:
sudo mv phorge-master /var/www/html/phorge
The next step is to configure Phorge. First, rename the configuration file:
cd /var/www/html/phorge
cp conf/local/local.json.sample conf/local/local.json
Now, open the local.json file using your favorite editor:
nano conf/local/local.json
Replace the database credentials with the values you created in Step 3:
{
"mysql.host": "localhost",
"mysql.port": 3306,
"mysql.user": "user",
"mysql.pass": "password",
"mysql.dbname": "dbname"
}
Save and exit the file.
Phorge requires write access for some directories. Run the following command to set the appropriate permissions:
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html/phorge/conf/local/
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html/phorge/support/
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html/phorge/files/
The final step to complete the installation process is to restart the Apache web server:
sudo systemctl restart httpd
Phorge is now installed and ready to use. Open your web browser and navigate to your server's IP address or hostname followed by "/phorge". For example, if your server's IP address is 192.168.0.100, enter "http://192.168.0.100/phorge" in your web browser.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Phorge on Clear Linux Latest. With Phorge, you can now manage your projects, track tasks, and collaborate with your team efficiently.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
