Tox is a free and open-source, decentralized instant messaging and video-calling protocol. It allows you to communicate with your friends, family, and colleagues securely and privately. In this tutorial, we will learn how to install Tox on Clear Linux Latest.
Before we proceed with the installation, make sure that you have the following:
First, update the Clear Linux system's package repositories and upgrade any outdated packages.
sudo swupd update
sudo swupd upgrade
Tox does not have an official package available for Clear Linux Latest. However, we can install it using the Flatpak package manager. Flatpak is an open-source distribution framework used for building and distributing desktop applications on Linux.
First, install the Flatpak package manager on Clear Linux using the following command.
sudo swupd bundle-add flatpak
Next, enable the Flathub repository. Flathub is the central repository of Flatpak applications.
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
Once you have enabled the Flathub repository, install the Tox client using the following command:
flatpak install flathub io.github.Tox.toxic
Once the installation is complete, you can launch the Tox client from the applications menu or using the following command in the terminal:
flatpak run io.github.Tox.toxic
That’s it! You have successfully installed the Tox client on Clear Linux Latest. Using Tox, you can communicate with your friends, family, and colleagues while ensuring your privacy and security.
