Traccar is a free and open-source GPS tracking platform that allows users to monitor and manage GPS tracking devices on maps. In this tutorial, we'll walk through the steps to install Traccar on Clear Linux Latest.
Before we begin, please make sure you have the following:
The first step is to update the system's package repository and installed packages. Run the following command to do that:
sudo swupd update
Traccar requires Java to run. Clear Linux uses OpenJDK by default, which is sufficient for our purpose. You can install OpenJDK by running the following command:
sudo swupd bundle-add java-basic
Now that Java is installed, let's move on to downloading Traccar. Go to the official website https://www.traccar.org/ and download the latest version of Traccar for Linux. You can either download the .deb
package or the .zip
package depending on your preference.
If you choose to download the .deb
package, you can install it using the dpkg
command like this:
sudo dpkg -i traccar_4.13_amd64.deb
Alternatively, if you choose to download the .zip
package, you can extract it to any location on your system, then move the extracted directory to /opt/traccar
. Here's an example command to illustrate:
sudo unzip traccar-linux-4.13.zip -d /opt/traccar
Now that Traccar is installed, let's start it up. You can start Traccar by running the following command:
sudo systemctl start traccar
To check that Traccar is running, you can run the command:
sudo systemctl status traccar
To enable Traccar to start automatically at boot, run the command:
sudo systemctl enable traccar
Finally, you can access Traccar by visiting http://localhost:8082
in your web browser. If you installed Traccar on a remote server, replace localhost
with the IP address or hostname of the server.
When you access Traccar for the first time, you will be prompted to create an administrator account. Please follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Traccar on Clear Linux Latest.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
