Installing oVirt on Clear Linux Latest

In this tutorial, we will walk through the steps required to install oVirt, an open-source virtualization management tool, on Clear Linux Latest.

Prerequisites

Before we begin, make sure your system meets the following prerequisites:

Step 1 – Install Required Dependencies

Before we can install oVirt, we need to install some extra packages that it depends on. Open a terminal and run the following command:

sudo swupd bundle-add ovirt-engine-setup

This command installs the ovirt-engine-setup bundle, which includes all necessary dependencies to install and configure the oVirt engine.

Step 2 – Install oVirt Engine

Once the required dependencies are installed, we can proceed to install the oVirt engine. Run the following command to start the installation process:

sudo engine-setup

This will initiate the installation process and display a prompt with several questions. Here are some suggestions you can provide when prompted:

The installation may take a few minutes to complete. Once finished, the oVirt engine will be installed and configured.

Step 3 – Access oVirt Web Interface

To access the oVirt web interface, open a web browser and enter the following URL:

https://<your-ovirt-engine-fqdn>/ovirt-engine

Replace "your-ovirt-engine-fqdn" with the FQDN or hostname of your oVirt engine. You will be prompted for a username and password. Use the admin username and password you specified during the installation process.

That's it! You have now successfully installed and configured oVirt on Clear Linux Latest. You can now connect oVirt to your virtualization hosts and begin creating and managing virtual machines.

If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!

Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
