The following steps will guide you through the process of installing xsrv on Clear Linux Latest.
Open a terminal window on your Clear Linux system.
Install the necessary dependencies:
sudo swupd bundle-add x11 x11-dev
git clone https://github.com/clearlinux-pkgs/xsrv.git
cd xsrv
sudo makepkg
sudo swupd bundle-add xsrv-<version>-<release>.x86_64.swupd
Replace <version>
and <release>
with the appropriate values for the xsrv package you just built.
xsrv :1
This will start the xsrv server on display 1.
ssh -X <user>@<ip_address> "env DISPLAY=:1 xterm &"
Replace <user>
and <ip_address>
with the appropriate values for your system.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
