FlatPress is a lightweight and fast content management system, built on PHP. It is perfect for running a blog or simple website. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install FlatPress on Debian Latest.
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
You can download FlatPress from their official website at https://www.flatpress.org/download
Alternatively, you can run the following command in the terminal to download the latest version of FlatPress:
wget https://github.com/flatpress/flatpress/releases/latest/download/fp-latest.zip
Extract the downloaded file to your preferred directory, for example, /var/www/html:
unzip fp-latest.zip -d /var/www/html/
Make sure the directory permissions are set correctly. You can do this by running the following command:
chmod -R 755 /var/www/html/flatpress/
You need to create a new database to store FlatPress data. You can create a new database using the following command:
mysql -u root -p
CREATE DATABASE flatpress;
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON flatpress.* TO 'flatpressuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
exit;
Make sure to change the database name, username, and password according to your preference.
FlatPress comes with a default configuration file called fp-config.php.default
. Rename this file to fp-config.php
and edit it using your preferred text editor. You can run the following command to rename the file:
cd /var/www/html/flatpress
mv fp-config.php.default fp-config.php
nano fp-config.php

- Set this to localhost

- Your database username$fp_config['db']['password']
- Your database passwordOpen your web browser and visit your website URL. You will be redirected to the FlatPress installation page. Follow the installation wizard to complete the installation.
Once the installation is complete, FlatPress will generate a new configuration file called fp-config.php
. You can delete the old fp-config.php
file if it exists, and make sure the directory permissions are still set correctly:
rm fp-config.php.default
chmod -R 755 /var/www/html/flatpress/
FlatPress is now installed and ready to use. You can log in to your website administrator dashboard at http://your-website.com/admin.php
