Jitsi Video Bridge is a web-based videoconferencing system that allows you to easily host and join online meetings without any downloads or plugins. In this tutorial, we will go through the steps to install the Jitsi Video Bridge on Debian Latest.
Before we begin, make sure that you have the following:
The first step is to update the Debian system packages. Open the terminal and enter the following command:
sudo apt-get update
Now, let’s install the Jitsi Video Bridge. Enter the following command in the terminal:
sudo apt-get install jitsi-videobridge2
This will install the latest version of Jitsi Video Bridge on your Debian system.
After installing the Jitsi Video Bridge, we need to configure it. Open the /etc/jitsi/videobridge/config file with a text editor:
sudo nano /etc/jitsi/videobridge/config
Add the following line to enable Octo:
org.jitsi.videobridge.octo.BIND_ADDRESS=YOUR_IP_ADDRESS
Replace the YOUR_IP_ADDRESS
with your server IP address.
Now, we need to enable the Jitsi Video Bridge service:
sudo systemctl enable jitsi-videobridge2.service
Then, start the Jitsi Video Bridge service:
sudo systemctl start jitsi-videobridge2.service
To check the status of the service, enter the following command:
sudo systemctl status jitsi-videobridge2.service
You should see the output that the Jitsi Video Bridge service is active and running.
To verify that the Jitsi Video Bridge is working, open your web browser and enter the following URL:
https://localhost:8443/
You should see a Jitsi Video Bridge welcome screen.
