Installing MicroBin on Debian Latest

MicroBin is an open-source binary builder and package manager for web applications. In this tutorial, we will go over the steps to install MicroBin on the latest version of Debian.

Prerequisites

Before we begin, make sure you have the following:

Step 1: Install Node.js

MicroBin is built on Node.js, so the first step is to install Node.js on your Debian server:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nodejs npm

Verify the installation by checking the version:

nodejs --version

Step 2: Install Git

MicroBin is hosted on GitHub, so we need to install Git to be able to clone the repository:

sudo apt-get install git

Step 3: Clone the MicroBin repository

Now that we have Node.js and Git installed, we can clone the MicroBin repository:

git clone https://github.com/szabodanika/microbin.git

This will create a new directory called "microbin" in your current working directory.

Step 4: Install dependencies

Now we need to install the dependencies that MicroBin relies on. Navigate to the "microbin" directory and run the following command:

cd microbin
npm install

This will install all of the required packages into the node_modules directory.

Step 5: Start the MicroBin server

Now that we have installed all of the dependencies, we can start the MicroBin server:

node index.js

By default, MicroBin is listening on port 3000. Open up your web browser and navigate to http://your-server-ip:3000/ to make sure the server is up and running.

Conclusion

With these simple steps, you have successfully installed MicroBin on Debian Latest. From here, you can start using MicroBin to build and manage binary packages for your web applications.
