This tutorial will guide you through the steps of installing NATS on Debian Latest.
Before we start the installation process, we need to update the Debian package manager system. To update Debian, open up the terminal and run the following commands:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Go to https://nats.io/ and download the latest binary release of NATS.
wget https://github.com/nats-io/nats-server/releases/download/v2.3.0/nats-server-v2.3.0-linux-amd64.zip
Unzip the downloaded NATS file using the following command:
unzip nats-server-v2.3.0-linux-amd64.zip
Move the extracted NATS file to the /usr/local/bin directory:
sudo mv nats-server-v2.3.0-linux-amd64/nats-server /usr/local/bin/nats
Start NATS server using the following command:
nats-server
To test if the NATS server is running, open a new terminal and run the following command:
nats-pub test --tls=false --user=admin --pass=password
If the output is as follows -
Published [test] : ''
This means that the NATS server is up and running properly.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed NATS on Debian Latest. You can now use it to build high-performance, scalable, and resilient distributed systems.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
