In this tutorial, we will guide you step by step through the process of installing Olaris on Debian. Olaris is a software that helps manage and monitor Docker containers remotely through a user-friendly interface.
Before we begin, ensure that you have the following:
Create a new directory to download Olaris by running the command:
mkdir olaris
Change directory to the Olaris directory:
cd olaris
Download the latest stable Olaris release from the Olaris GitLab repository:
wget https://gitlab.com/olaris/olaris-server/-/archive/v1.0.0/olaris-server-v1.0.0.tar.gz
Extract the files:
tar -xzvf olaris-server-v1.0.0.tar.gz
Navigate to the Olaris configuration directory:
cd olaris-server-v1.0.0/config
Edit the 'olaris.yml' file to configure Olaris settings:
nano olaris.yml
Within the file, you will be able to specify the database settings, email settings, and more.
Save and close the file.
Navigate back to the Olaris directory:
cd ../
Launch Olaris using Docker Compose:
docker-compose up
Docker Compose will start the required services, such as a PostgreSQL database, Redis cache, and Olaris itself.
Open your web browser.
Navigate to the URL where Olaris is running (e.g. http://localhost:3000/).
Olaris will prompt you to create an admin account. Fill in the required fields and continue.
You will now be able to manage and monitor Docker containers remotely through Olaris.
Congratulations, you have successfully installed Olaris on Debian Latest!
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
