In this tutorial, we will go through the steps to install Tinode on Debian latest.
Before we begin, ensure that you have the following:
We will first need to install Git in Debian.
To do this, update the package indexes and install Git using the following command:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install git
Now that Git is installed, we need to clone the Tinode repository from GitHub.
Use the following command to create a new directory and clone the repository:
mkdir tinode
cd tinode
git clone https://github.com/tinode/tinode.git
Once the repository is cloned, we need to install the dependencies required for Tinode to run.
Use the following command to install all dependencies:
sudo apt install build-essential g++ libssl-dev \
postgresql postgresql-contrib \
libpq-dev libjson-c-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev liblua5.4-dev
With all dependencies installed, we can now build and install Tinode.
Use the following commands to build and install Tinode:
cd tinode
./configure
make
sudo make install
Now that Tinode is installed, we can start it and verify that it is running.
Use the following command to start Tinode:
tinode -c /etc/tinode.conf -D
To verify that Tinode is running, we can open a web browser and navigate to http://localhost:6060.
