This tutorial will guide you through the installation process of Zimbra Collaboration on a Debian Latest machine.
Before proceeding with the installation, make sure your Debian machine meets the following requirements:
Start by making sure your Debian machine is up-to-date by running the following commands:
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt upgrade
Install the necessary dependencies using the following command:
$ sudo apt install mysql-server nginx build-essential libssl-dev libffi-dev libxml2-dev libxslt-dev libzip-dev libexpat1-dev libpcre3-dev libdb-dev libicu-dev libpng-dev libjpeg-dev dmidecode locales acl gdb uuid-dev sudo
Once the installation is complete, restart the server to apply the changes:
$ sudo systemctl restart nginx
$ sudo systemctl restart mysql
Zimbra requires the AppArmor service to be disabled before the installation can proceed. To disable AppArmor, run the following commands:
$ sudo systemctl disable apparmor.service --now
$ sudo systemctl stop apparmor.service
Download the latest version of Zimbra Collaboration by visiting the https://www.zimbra.com/download/zimbra-collaboration/ website:
$ wget https://files.zimbra.com/downloads/8.8.15_GA/zcs-8.8.15_GA_3869.debian10.15_amd64.deb.tgz
$ tar -zxvf zcs-8.8.15_GA_3869.debian10.15_amd64.deb.tgz
$ cd zcs-8.8.15_GA_3869.debian10.15_amd64.deb/
Run the installation script:
$ sudo ./install.sh
During the installation process, the script will ask you for the following information:
Once the installation is complete, start the Zimbra services:
$ sudo su - zimbra
$ zmcontrol start
Access the web interface by visiting the following URL:
https://<your_domain_name>:7071
You have successfully installed Zimbra Collaboration on your Debian Latest machine. You can now start exploring all the features and functionalities that Zimbra has to offer.
