Chitchatter is a free, open-source, cross-platform instant messaging client that can be used to chat with people using different chat platforms such as Facebook, Google Hangouts, XMPP, and more. In this tutorial, we will go through the steps to install Chitchatter on Elementary OS Latest.
Prerequisites
- A computer running Elementary OS Latest.
- A stable internet connection.
Step 1: Add the Chitchatter repository
- Open Terminal by pressing
Ctrl
+ Alt
+ T
.
- Run the following command to add the Chitchatter repository to your system.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:chitchatter/ppa
- Once you enter the command, you will be prompted to press
Enter
to continue.
- After that, the system will add the repository, and you will get a message that says "OK".
Step 2: Update your System
- To update your system to the latest packages, use the following command.
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
- This will update your system to the latest packages.
Step 3: Install Chitchatter
- To install Chitchatter, use the following command.
sudo apt-get install chitchatter
- Once you enter the command, you will be prompted to press
Enter
to continue.
- After that, the system will start installing Chitchatter.
- Once the installation is complete, you will get a message that says "OK".
Step 4: Launch Chitchatter
- To launch Chitchatter, go to the applications menu and type "Chitchatter".
- Click on the Chitchatter icon to launch the application.
- Once the application starts, you can log in to your chat accounts and start chatting with your friends and colleagues.
