Cloudbox is an all-in-one personal media server that provides many advanced features to users. In this tutorial, we will learn how to install the Cloudbox on the latest version of Elementary OS.
Follow the below-explained steps carefully to start with the installation process:
Open the Terminal on your Elementary OS system by clicking on the Applications icon located at the bottom left corner of the screen and search for ‘Terminal.’
Once you load the Terminal, you need to update your package list. For this, run the following command:
sudo apt-get update
Next, install Curl if you haven't already, which is required to download Cloudbox by running the following command:
sudo apt install curl
Now, copy and paste the following command into the Terminal to download and install Cloudbox:
curl -sL https://cloudbox.works/install | bash
After running the command, you will see the installer running on your screen. Follow the instructions appropriately by entering the required inputs, such as admin username, password, disk configuration, and more.
Once you save all the settings, the installation process will start, and it may take several minutes depending on your internet speed and system configuration.
Once done, Cloudbox should be installed on your Elementary OS system. You can simply access it by opening any browser of your choice and going to http://w.x.y.z:998, where w.x.y.z is the IP address of your Elementary OS system.
That's it! You have successfully installed Cloudbox on your Elementary OS system. Now, you can configure all your media files and start using the features provided by Cloudbox.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
