CommaFeed is a web-based RSS reader that allows you to manage and read RSS feeds in one place. In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to install CommaFeed on Elementary OS latest.
Before installing any software, make sure your system is up-to-date. Open the terminal and run the following command:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
This will update all the packages on your system to their latest versions.
CommaFeed is written in Java, so we need to install OpenJDK, a free and open-source implementation of the Java Development Kit. To do this, run the following command in the terminal:
sudo apt install openjdk-11-jdk
This will install OpenJDK 11 on your system.
You can download the latest version of CommaFeed from their official website: https://www.commafeed.com/download. Once you have downloaded the .tar.gz file, extract it to a directory of your choice.
tar -xvf CommaFeed-2.6.0.tar.gz
To start CommaFeed, navigate to the extracted directory and run the following command in the terminal:
./commafeed
This will start CommaFeed and it should be accessible at http://localhost:8082 in your web browser.
That's it! You have successfully installed CommaFeed on Elementary OS latest. You can now manage and read all your RSS feeds in one place using the CommaFeed web interface.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
