DomainMOD is an open-source and powerful domain name management software. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing DomainMOD on Elementary OS Latest. This guide assumes that you have a running Elementary OS Latest system and have administrative privileges.
Before you start installing DomainMOD, it is recommended that you update your system to ensure that it has the latest packages and security updates.
To do this, open a terminal window and run the following command:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
This command will update your system to the latest software versions.
Before installing DomainMOD, we need to install some required dependencies. Run the following command in the terminal to install them:
sudo apt install apache2 php mysql-server php-mysqlnd php-xml unzip

During the installation process, you will be prompted to set a root password for the MySQL database.
DomainMOD can be downloaded from its official website (https://domainmod.org/). You can download the latest version from the website and save it to your /tmp directory.
Open a terminal window and run the following command to download DomainMOD:
wget https://github.com/domainmod/domainmod/releases/download/v4.17.01/domainmod_4-17-01.zip -P /tmp
After downloading the DomainMOD zip file, we need to extract it to the /var/www/html directory where Apache2 looks for the web pages.
Run the following command in the terminal to extract the DomainMOD file:
sudo unzip /tmp/domainmod_4-17-01.zip -d /var/www/html/
The above command will extract the files to /var/www/html/domainmod/ directory.
After extracting the DomainMOD files, we need to set the correct permissions on them so that Apache2 can access them.
Run the following command to change the ownership of the DomainMOD directory:
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html/domainmod
We need to configure the Apache web server to serve the DomainMOD files.
Create a new virtual host configuration file by running the following command:
sudo nano /etc/apache2/sites-available/domainmod.conf
Copy and paste the following content in the file:

ServerName domainmod.example.com

Change the ServerAdmin, ServerName, and DocumentRoot variables to match your domain and website details.
Save and close the file by pressing CTRL+X followed by Y and Enter.
To enable the virtual host configuration, run the following command:
sudo a2ensite domainmod.conf
To reload the Apache web server, run the following command:
sudo systemctl reload apache2
Open a web browser and visit the URL http://domainmod.example.com where domainmod.example.com is your domain name. This will launch the DomainMOD installation wizard.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
