Hastebin is a free, open-source web application that allows you to share your code snippets quickly and easily. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install Hastebin on Elementary OS Latest.
Before you begin this tutorial, you should have the following:
The first thing you need to do is update your system. Open the Terminal window and run the following command:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
Hastebin is built on top of Node.js, so you will need to install it to use this application. Run the following command to install Node.js:
sudo apt install nodejs
Now that we have Node.js installed, we can proceed to install Hastebin. Clone the Hastebin repository to your system using the following command:
git clone https://github.com/seejohnrun/haste-server.git
Once the repository is cloned, navigate to the newly created directory using the following command:
cd haste-server
Now, you can install the required dependencies using npm:
sudo npm install
To start the Hastebin application, run the following command:
nohup sudo npm start &
The "&" symbol allows Hastebin to run in the background, so you can close the terminal window and continue using your system.
Hastebin is now up and running on your system. You can access it by opening a web browser and visiting:
http://localhost:7777/
