Kavita is a PDF and eBook reader application for Linux. In this tutorial, we will go through the step-by-step process of installing Kavita on Elementary OS Latest.
Visit the official Kavita website at https://www.kavitareader.com/ and navigate to the "Download" page.
Select the appropriate version of Kavita for your system. Since we are installing on Elementary OS Latest, select the ".deb" download option.
Before we can install Kavita, we need to make sure that all its dependencies are installed. Open your terminal and run the following command:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -y libqt5webengine5 libqt5multimedia5-plugins libqt5svg5 libqt5xml5 libqt5webview5 libqt5sql5-sqlite
This command will update your package list and install all the required packages.
Navigate to the folder where you downloaded the Kavita ".deb" package. In most cases, it will be the "Downloads" folder.
Right-click on the downloaded package and select "Open with Software Install". Alternatively, you can also run the following command in your terminal:
sudo apt install ./kavita_1.0-1_amd64.deb
The installation process will start. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Kavita.
Once the installation is complete, you can launch Kavita from the Applications menu.
