LibreNews is a news aggregator that provides news from various sources around the world. In this tutorial, we will go through the steps to install LibreNews on Elementary OS latest version.
Firstly, we need to download the LibreNews package from the official website. To do that, we can follow the below steps:
After downloading the LibreNews package, we need to install it on our system. To do that, we can follow the below steps:
Open the terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T
on your keyboard.
Navigate to the directory where the LibreNews package is located. For example, if the package is located in the Downloads folder, we can navigate to it by entering the following command:
cd Downloads
Extract the package by entering the following command:
sudo tar -xvf librenews-0.5.5.tar.gz
Note: Replace "librenews-0.5.5.tar.gz" with the name of the LibreNews package you downloaded.
Navigate to the extracted package directory by entering the following command:
cd librenews-0.5.5
Note: Replace "librenews-0.5.5" with the name of the extracted package directory.
Install the package by entering the following command:
sudo dpkg -i librenews.deb
Wait for the installation process to complete.
Once the installation is complete, we can launch LibreNews from the Applications menu or by entering the following command in the terminal:
librenews
After launching LibreNews, we can configure our preferred news sources and layout. From here, we can use LibreNews to read and stay up-to-date with the latest news from around the world.
