How to Install MiAOU on Elementary OS

MiAOU is a real-time chat application that runs in your browser. This tutorial will guide you through the installation process of MiAOU on the latest version of Elementary OS.

Prerequisites

Installation Steps

  1. Open your Terminal by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T
  2. To add the needed dependencies, type the following commands:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential libssl-dev libffi-dev python-dev
  1. Install Node.js on your system using the following command:
curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_12.x | sudo bash -
sudo apt-get install -y nodejs
  1. Install git on your system using the following command:
sudo apt-get install git
  1. Navigate to the directory where you want to install MiAOU. For example, let’s install it in your home directory:
cd ~
  1. Clone the MiAOU repository with git:
git clone https://github.com/dystroy/miaou.git
  1. Navigate into the miaou directory:
cd miaou
  1. Install the required dependencies by running:
npm install
  1. To start MiAOU, use the following command:
npm start
  1. This will start a Node.js server and open a browser window with the MiAOU app running. If the browser window doesn't open automatically, you can manually open it by going to your browser and navigating to http://localhost:8080
