How to Install MiAOU on Elementary OS

MiAOU is a real-time chat application that runs in your browser. This tutorial will guide you through the installation process of MiAOU on the latest version of Elementary OS.

Prerequisites

• A stable internet connection
• Latest version of Elementary OS
• A browser (preferably Chrome, Firefox or Safari)

Installation Steps

1. Open your Terminal by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T
2. To add the needed dependencies, type the following commands:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential libssl-dev libffi-dev python-dev

3. Install Node.js on your system using the following command:

curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_12.x | sudo bash -
sudo apt-get install -y nodejs

4. Install git on your system using the following command:

sudo apt-get install git

5. Navigate to the directory where you want to install MiAOU. For example, let’s install it in your home directory:

cd ~

6. Clone the MiAOU repository with git:

git clone https://github.com/dystroy/miaou.git

7. Navigate into the miaou directory:

cd miaou

8. Install the required dependencies by running:

npm install

9. To start MiAOU, use the following command:

npm start

10. This will start a Node.js server and open a browser window with the MiAOU app running. If the browser window doesn't open automatically, you can manually open it by going to your browser and navigating to http://localhost:8080

Congratulations, you have successfully installed MiAOU on your Elementary OS Machine! You can now start using the app to chat with your friends and colleagues in real-time.
