OpenNote is an open-source alternative to popular note-taking apps such as Evernote or Microsoft OneNote. This tutorial will guide you through the installation process of OpenNote on Elementary OS latest version.
Prerequisites
- An updated version of Elementary OS.
- Access to a terminal.
Installation process
- First, we need to install Git, which is a version control system that will help us to download the OpenNote repository. To install Git, open the terminal (CTRL + ALT + T) and type the following command:
sudo apt-get install git
- Once Git is installed, navigate to the home directory by typing this command:
cd ~/
- Now we'll clone the OpenNote repository using Git. To do that, type the following command:
git clone https://github.com/FoxUSA/OpenNote.git
- Once the repository is cloned, navigate to the OpenNote directory by typing the following command:
cd OpenNote
- Now, we need to make the OpenNote.sh script executable. To do so, type this command:
chmod +x OpenNote.sh
- Finally, to run OpenNote, execute the OpenNote.sh script by typing the following command:
./OpenNote.sh
- OpenNote is now running, and you should be able to see the login screen.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed OpenNote on your Elementary OS latest version. Now you can start taking notes, creating lists, and setting reminders.
