Enter your MySQL root password when prompted. Once you have logged in to the MySQL console, create a database:
CREATE DATABASE orangeforum;
Create a new user and grant database permissions:
CREATE USER 'orangeforumuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON orangeforum.* TO 'orangeforumuser'@'localhost';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
Replace password
with a strong password.
The next step is to configure Orange Forum. Navigate to the config
folder in the extracted Orange Forum package and rename the config.sample.php
file to config.php
:
cd orange_forum/config/
mv config.sample.php config.php
Open the config.php
file using a text editor and update the database details:
define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');
define('DB_USER', 'orangeforumuser');
define('DB_PASSWORD', 'password');
define('DB_NAME', 'orangeforum');
Replace orangeforumuser
and password
with the username and password you created in the previous step.
