REI3 is a customizable and configurable window manager that can be used as an alternative to the default desktop environment on Elementary OS. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to install REI3 on Elementary OS Latest.
Before we begin, make sure that you have the following:
Open a terminal window by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T
or by clicking on the terminal icon in the Applications menu.
Add the REI3 PPA repository to your system by typing the following command in the terminal:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fenris/trusty-backports
You will be prompted to enter your password to confirm the action.
Update your system's package list by typing the following command in the terminal:
sudo apt update
Install REI3 by typing the following command in the terminal:
sudo apt install rei3
Once the installation is complete, restart your computer to apply the changes.
Log out of your current session by clicking on the power icon in the top right corner of your screen and selecting "Log out".
On the login screen, click on the gear icon and select "REI3" as your desktop environment.
Enter your credentials to log in, and you should now be greeted with the REI3 desktop environment.
