Remmina is a remote desktop client for Linux that allows you to access and control remote computers or servers. In this tutorial, we will go through the steps to install Remmina on Elementary OS.
Before we can begin installing Remmina, it is important to ensure that our system is up to date. To update your system, simply open the terminal and run the following command:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
Once your system is up to date, we can proceed with installing Remmina. To do so, open the terminal and run the following command:
sudo apt-get install remmina remmina-plugin-rdp remmina-plugin-secret remmina-plugin-spice
This will install Remmina as well as its required dependencies.
After the installation is complete, you can start Remmina by either searching for it in the applications menu or running the following command in the terminal:
remmina
Once Remmina is running, you can use it to connect to remote machines by clicking on the "+" icon in the upper left-hand corner and filling in the necessary information, such as the remote host address and login credentials.
That's it! You have successfully installed Remmina on Elementary OS and are now ready to use it to remotely connect to other computers. Happy remote computing!
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
