TeslaMate is an open-source self-hosted data logger for Tesla vehicles. It enables users to collect data regarding the Tesla vehicle's trip, driving behavior, charging, etc. In this tutorial, we will guide you step-by-step on how to install TeslaMate on Elementary OS Latest.
Before installing TeslaMate, make sure that all required dependencies are properly installed. TeslaMate requires PostgreSQL, NGINX, and Ruby.
You may install these dependencies by entering the following commands in the terminal.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install postgresql nginx ruby-full build-essential libpq-dev libxml2-dev libxslt1-dev
Follow the steps below to install TeslaMate.
Clone TeslaMate from GitHub.
git clone https://github.com/adriankumpf/teslamate
Go to the cloned directory
cd teslamate
Run the script to install TeslaMate with Ruby.
./bin/install
TeslaMate requires to be configured to your PostgreSQL server. Follow the steps below to configure.
Create a database user by entering the following command.
sudo -u postgres createuser -s teslamate
Create a new database named teslamate for the user teslamate.
sudo -u postgres createdb -O teslamate teslamate
Change the .env file with the following command.
nano .env
Change the variables to your PostgreSQL server's credentials.
DATABASE_USERNAME=teslamate
DATABASE_PASSWORD=yourpassword
DATABASE_DATABASE=teslamate
DATABASE_HOSTNAME=127.0.0.1
To start TeslaMate, run the following command in the terminal.
bin/teslamate
Open your web browser and access the following URL.
http://localhost:4000
This opens the TeslaMate dashboard, which means that TeslaMate is successfully installed and running.
