Before installing UnrealIRCd, please make sure that you have the following software installed on your system:
Before installing any new software on your system, it's recommended to update and upgrade the existing packages. Open the terminal and type in the following command:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
This command will update and upgrade the existing packages on your system.
UnrealIRCd requires some dependencies to be installed before it can be installed on your system. Open the terminal and type in the following command to install the required dependencies:
sudo apt install make gcc libssl-dev
This command will install the required dependencies on your system.
Next, download the latest version of UnrealIRCd from the official website. The download link is available at https://www.unrealircd.org/download.
Once downloaded, open the terminal and navigate to the download location using the following command:
cd Downloads
Extract the UnrealIRCd archive by using the following command:
tar -zxvf unrealircd-5.2.0.tar.gz
Navigate to the extracted directory using the following command:
cd unrealircd-5.2.0
Next, configure UnrealIRCd by using the following command:
./Config
You will be asked some questions during the configuration process. Answer the questions accordingly.
After successful configuration, compile and install UnrealIRCd using the following command:
make && sudo make install
UnrealIRCd is now installed on your system. You can launch UnrealIRCd by using the following command:
sudo /usr/local/bin/unrealircd start
This command will start UnrealIRCd on your system.
