How to Install phpIPAM on Elementary OS Latest

phpIPAM is a web-based IP Address Management (IPAM) application that allows for easy and efficient management of IP addresses and related data. This tutorial will guide you through the process of installing phpIPAM on Elementary OS latest.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding with the installation of phpIPAM, you need to have the following prerequisites:

Step 1: Download phpIPAM

Firstly, download the latest version of phpIPAM from the official website at http://phpipam.net/download/ and extract the downloaded archive to your server.

$ wget -c https://github.com/phpipam/phpipam/archive/1.4.0.tar.gz -O - | tar -xz

Step 2: Install Required PHP Packages

Once the download is complete extract the phpIPAM files to a directory. Then install the required PHP packages for phpIPAM to run properly.

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install php php-mysql php-curl php-cli php-gd php-intl php-mbstring php-json php-ldap php-zip php-fpm

Step 3: Configure Apache and PHP

After installing the required PHP packages, the next step is to configure Apache and PHP.

Edit the apache2.conf file and add the following code at the end of the file:

$ sudo nano /etc/apache2/apache2.conf
<Directory "/var/www/html/phpipam">
   Options FollowSymLinks
   AllowOverride All
   Require all granted
</Directory>

Next, restart Apache:

$ sudo systemctl restart apache2

Step 4: Create A Database for phpIPAM

Create a phpIPAM database and user in MySQL:

$ mysql -u root -p
$ CREATE DATABASE phpipam;
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON phpipam.* TO 'phpipamuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'phpipampassword';

Step 5: Configure phpIPAM

Navigate to the directory where you extracted phpIPAM earlier and rename the config.dist.php file to config.php:

$ cd /var/www/html/phpipam
$ cp config.dist.php config.php

Next, edit the config.php file and add the following details:

define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');
define('DB_NAME', 'phpipam');
define('DB_USER', 'phpipamuser');
define('DB_PASS', 'phpipampassword');

Step 6: Set Permissions

Set the correct permissions for the phpipam directory:

$ chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html/phpipam
$ chmod -R 755 /var/www/html/phpipam

Step 7: Access phpIPAM

Access phpIPAM from your browser by visiting:

http://your-server-ip-address/phpipam/index.php

You will be asked to enter your MySQL details, enter them and click on the “Install” button to complete the installation.
