Tutorial: Installing TigerVNC on EndeavourOS Latest

TigerVNC is a free and open-source remote desktop VNC software that allows you to remotely access and control computers over the network. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install TigerVNC on EndeavourOS Latest, in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Update the package manager

Before you start the installation process, it is important to make sure that the package manager is up to date. Open the terminal and execute the following command:

sudo pacman -Syu

This command will update your system packages to their latest version.

Step 2: Install TigerVNC

You can install TigerVNC using the pacman package manager. Execute the following command in the terminal:

sudo pacman -S tigervnc

This will install TigerVNC along with all its dependencies.

Step 3: Set up a VNC server

Next, you need to set up a VNC server on the device that you want to remotely access. You can do this by executing the following command in the terminal:

vncserver

This will start the VNC server for the first time and prompt you to set a password. Enter a new password for the VNC server, and remember it as you will need it to connect to the server remotely.

Step 4: Connect to the VNC server remotely

Now that you have set up the server, it is time to connect to it remotely. You can do this by using a VNC client, which is available for all major operating systems.

To connect to the VNC server from an external device, you need to know the IP address of the device on which you have installed TigerVNC. You can find out the IP address using the following command:

ip addr

Once you have the IP address, you can connect to the VNC server using a VNC client. You will be prompted to enter the password that you set earlier.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed and set up TigerVNC on EndeavourOS Latest, and can now remotely access and control your device.

If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!

Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
