Weechat is an open-source IRC client designed for terminal-based platforms. It is a highly configurable client that can be customized according to your needs. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install Weechat on EndeavourOS.
Before we start, make sure that you have the following requirements:
The first step is to update the EndeavourOS package repository. Open a terminal and run the following command:
sudo pacman -Syu
This command will update the package repository to the latest version.
Once the package repository is updated, you can install Weechat using the following command:
sudo pacman -S weechat
This command will download and install Weechat and all its dependencies.
After the installation is complete, you can start using Weechat by running the following command:
weechat
This will start Weechat in the terminal.
At first run, Weechat suggests to create a configuration directory in your home directory by using the command:
/weechat
You can then proceed to configure Weechat to your preferences.
You have successfully installed Weechat on EndeavourOS. You can now use Weechat to connect to various IRC channels and interact with other users. Remember to update the package repository regularly to keep your system up-to-date.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
