Joplin is a free and open-source note-taking and to-do application that provides many features to organize your notes, images, and documents in a simple and efficient way. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing Joplin on Fedora CoreOS Latest.
Before we start, make sure you have:
Open a terminal on your Fedora CoreOS system and run the following command to install the required dependencies:
sudo dnf install wget curl
Download the latest Joplin release for Linux using the following command:
wget -O joplin https://github.com/laurent22/joplin/releases/download/v2.4.11/Joplin-2.4.11.AppImage
Note: Replace v2.4.11
with the latest version available on the Joplin website.
Make the downloaded file executable using the following command:
chmod +x joplin
Run Joplin by typing the following command:
./joplin
This will start the Joplin application on your system. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.
(Optional) To create a desktop launcher for Joplin, create a new file named joplin.desktop
in the /usr/share/applications/
directory using the following command:
sudo nano /usr/share/applications/joplin.desktop
Paste the following content into the file and save it:
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Name=Joplin
Comment=Note-taking and to-do application
Exec=/path/to/Joplin
Icon=/path/to/JoplinIcon.png
Terminal=false
Categories=Office;
Note: Replace /path/to/
with the actual path where you installed Joplin and put the Joplin icon file in the same directory.
Make the launcher file executable using the following command:
sudo chmod +x /usr/share/applications/joplin.desktop
You can now launch Joplin from your desktop by searching for it in the application menu or by clicking the launcher icon on your desktop.
