In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing OpenDJ on Fedora CoreOS. OpenDJ is a free, open-source directory server that is designed to manage large-scale enterprise directories.
Before we begin, ensure you have the following prerequisites to install OpenDJ.
To download OpenDJ, go to http://opendj.forgerock.org/ and select the version that you want to download. We will be using OpenDJ 4.0.0 for our tutorial.
$ wget https://github.com/OpenIdentityPlatform/OpenDJ/releases/download/4.0.0/opendj-4.0.0.zip
After the download is complete, extract the downloaded archive using the following command:
$ unzip opendj-4.0.0.zip
To install OpenDJ, navigate to the directory where it was extracted and run the following command:
$ ./setup directory-server
Follow the instructions provided by the setup wizard to complete the installation.
In the wizard, you will be prompted to choose the installation directory, the admin user and password, and the port for the directory server.
After the installation is complete, start the OpenDJ process using the following command:
$ ./bin/start-ds --quiet
OpenDJ should now be running on your Fedora CoreOS machine.
