ShinobiCE is an open-source, easy-to-use video surveillance system that allows you to monitor your cameras from anywhere. In this tutorial, we will be installing ShinobiCE on the latest version of Fedora CoreOS.
To install ShinobiCE, you'll need to create a new virtual machine to host the software. You can create a new VM using any virtualization software like VirtualBox, VMware, or any preferred platform.
Before installing any new software, it is important to ensure that your system is up-to-date. You can do this by running the following command as the root user:
sudo rpm-ostree update
Next, we need to install some dependencies required for ShinobiCE to work correctly. You can install these dependencies using the following command:
sudo dnf install -y gcc gcc-c++ make openssl-devel ffmpeg-devel nodejs
Once you have updated your system and installed the required dependencies, you can download and install the ShinobiCE software using the following commands:
mkdir shinobice
cd shinobice
wget https://gitlab.com/Shinobi-Systems/ShinobiCE/-/archive/master/ShinobiCE-master.tar.gz
tar zxvf ShinobiCE-master.tar.gz
cd ShinobiCE-master
./shinobi.sh
Once ShinobiCE is installed, you can access the web interface by opening your web browser and navigating to http://<your-server-ip>:8080
. You should see the ShinobiCE login page where you can log in using the default username and password:
Username: admin
Password: admin
You should now be able to start adding cameras to your ShinobiCE system and monitoring them from anywhere!
Congratulations, you have successfully installed ShinobiCE on Fedora CoreOS Latest!
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
