How to Install Peppermint on Fedora Server

Peppermint is a lightweight, fast and easy-to-use Linux operating system based on Ubuntu. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install Peppermint on a Fedora Server latest.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding, make sure your system meets the following requirements;

Step 1: Download Peppermint ISO Image

The first step will be to download the Peppermint ISO image from its official website.

  1. Open your preferred web browser and navigate to the Peppermint website.

  2. Click on the "Download" button in the home page.

  3. Download the latest Peppermint ISO image.

Step 2: Create a bootable USB Drive

Once the ISO image has been downloaded, the next step is to create a bootable USB drive.

  1. Insert a USB drive (at least 2GB) into your Fedora Server.

  2. Open the terminal and run the following command to identify the USB drive:

    fdisk -l

  3. Note down the device name of your USB drive.

  4. Run the following command to create a bootable USB drive:

    sudo dd if=/path/to/peppermint.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=4M status=progress && sync

    Note: Replace /path/to/peppermint.iso with the path to your Peppermint ISO image, and /dev/sdb with the device name of your USB drive.

    This command will erase everything on the USB drive and create a bootable Peppermint USB drive.

Step 3: Boot from the USB Drive

Now that you have created a bootable Peppermint USB drive, the next step is to boot your system from the USB drive.

  1. Insert the Peppermint USB drive into your system.

  2. Restart your system.

  3. When the system starts, press the F12 key (or the key required for your system) to enter the boot menu.

  4. Use the arrow keys to select the Peppermint USB drive and press Enter.

  5. The Peppermint boot menu will appear on your screen. Press Enter to start the live session.

Step 4: Install Peppermint

Once you have booted into the live session of Peppermint, you can proceed with the installation process.

  1. Double-click on the "Install Peppermint" icon on your desktop.

  2. The installation wizard will appear on your screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.

  3. On the "Installation Type" screen, select the "Erase disk and install Peppermint" option and click on "Install Now".

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to set the language, time zone, keyboard layout and create a user account.

  5. Once the installation is complete, remove the USB drive and reboot your system.
