Go to the Omeka S website at https://omeka.org/s/ and download the latest release.
wget https://omeka.org/files/omeka-s-latest.zip
Once the download is complete, extract the downloaded file.
unzip omeka-s-latest.zip -d /usr/local/www/
Create a database and user for Omeka S.
mysql -u root -p
CREATE USER 'omeka'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';
CREATE DATABASE omeka_s;
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON omeka_s.* TO 'omeka'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';
Create a virtual host file for Omeka S.
nano /usr/local/etc/apache24/Includes/omeka.conf
Paste the following configuration and save the file:
Alias /omeka "/usr/local/www/omeka-s"
<Directory "/usr/local/www/omeka-s">
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
Require all granted
</Directory>
Restart Apache:
service apache24 restart
Open a web browser and go to http://localhost/omeka. Follow the prompts to complete the installation process.
