The Lounge is a self-hosted web IRC client that provides a modern interface for chatting with others through IRC networks. In this tutorial, we will walk through the steps to install The Lounge on FreeBSD.
The Lounge requires some dependencies to be installed before it can be installed. Run the following command to install them:
pkg install npm gmake python2
Next, we need to download and extract The Lounge. To do this, run the following commands:
fetch https://thelounge.chat/latest.tar.gz
tar -zxvf latest.tar.gz
Now that The Lounge is downloaded and extracted, we can install it. Run the following command:
cd thelounge
npm install --only=prod
We can now start The Lounge using the following command:
./bin/lounge start
The Lounge will start running on port 9000 by default.
If you want to change the default port, you can modify the file config.js to suit your requirements.
To configure The Lounge, you can access its web interface by visiting http://<server_IP_address>:9000 in a web browser. From here, you can configure settings such as connections to IRC servers, themes, and plugins.
