Aimeos is a powerful e-commerce platform that is open-source and allows for easy customization. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to install Aimeos on Kali Linux.
Before we start with the installation, make sure you have the following prerequisites:
The first step is to update and upgrade all the existing packages. To do so, launch the terminal and run the following commands:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
To install the required packages for Aimeos, run the following commands:
sudo apt-get install apache2 php php-common php-curl php-mysql php-gd php-xml php-xmlrpc php-mbstring php-soap php-intl mariadb-server mariadb-client
Once the installation is complete, you can download the latest version of Aimeos from their official website. To do that, run the following command in the terminal:
wget https://get.aimeos.org/2022.10/aimeos-latest.zip
After downloading the Aimeos package, extract it to the desired directory. For example, to extract it to the /var/www/html/ directory, run the following command:
sudo unzip aimeos-latest.zip -d /var/www/html/
Once the extraction is complete, change the permission of the Aimeos directory to ensure that the web server can access it:
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html/aimeos
Before moving any further, you need to create a new MySQL database and user. Run the following commands to log in to the MySQL command-line interface with the root account:
sudo mysql -u root -p
Once logged in, create a new database, a new user, and grant all privileges to the user on the database with the following commands:
CREATE DATABASE dbname;
CREATE USER 'dbuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbname.* TO 'dbuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
exit
Make sure to replace dbname, dbuser, and password with your preferred names and password.
Open the web browser and navigate to http://localhost/aimeos/setup. Follow the installation wizard to set up Aimeos.
During the installation, you will be asked to enter your database and user details that you created in the previous step.
Once the installation is complete, you can log in to the Aimeos administration panel by visiting http://localhost/aimeos/admin.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Aimeos on Kali Linux. You can now customize it to your liking and start building your e-commerce website.
