In this tutorial, we will be walking you through the steps required to install ArchiveBox on Kali Linux.
Before installing ArchiveBox, you should make sure that your system is up to date with the latest security patches and software updates. To do this, open the terminal and type in the following commands:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
ArchiveBox requires a set of dependencies to be installed before we can proceed. These dependencies include Git, Python, and some Python libraries. To install them, run the following command:
sudo apt-get install -y git python3 python3-dev python3-venv python3-pip build-essential libssl-dev libffi-dev libxml2-dev libxslt1-dev zlib1g-dev
Now we will download the ArchiveBox source code from their GitHub repository. Use the following command to clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/pirate/ArchiveBox.git
After the cloning process is complete, navigate to the newly created ArchiveBox directory:
cd ArchiveBox
ArchiveBox requires Python3 to work. We will now create a virtual environment using Python3 so as to avoid any conflicts with other Python versions installed on our system.
To create the virtual environment, run the following commands:
python3 -m venv env
source env/bin/activate
With the virtual environment enabled, we can now install ArchiveBox using pip:
pip3 install -r requirements.txt
If you encounter any issues during this process, make sure that your Linux distribution has all the necessary packages installed.
To start ArchiveBox's web interface, execute the following command:
./archivebox/manage.py runserver
This will start the server on your local machine.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed ArchiveBox on your Kali Linux system. You can now use ArchiveBox to archive web pages and files so that you can easily access them later.
