Mibew is an open-source chat application that can be used on websites. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing Mibew on Kali Linux Latest. Please follow the steps below:
Before starting the installation process, we need to update our Kali Linux system. Open the terminal and type the following commands:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Mibew requires some dependencies to be installed on our system. We can install them by executing the following command:
sudo apt-get install apache2 php mysql-server php-mysql
Download the latest version of Mibew from the official website https://mibew.org/download. You can use the following command to download the tar.gz file:
wget https://download.mibew.org/latest.tar.gz
After downloading the tar.gz file, extract it using the following command:
tar -zxvf latest.tar.gz
Now we need to move the extracted files to the Apache root directory. Use the following commands:
sudo mv /path/to/extracted/mibew /var/www/html/mibew
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html/mibew
sudo chmod -R 755 /var/www/html/mibew
This will move the files to the "/var/www/html/mibew" directory and change the ownership and permissions of the files.
We need to create a database for Mibew. Use the following command to create a new database:
sudo mysql -u root -p
Enter your MySQL password, and then execute the following commands to create a new database and a new user:
CREATE DATABASE mibew_db;
CREATE USER 'mibew_user'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'mibew_password';
GRANT ALL ON mibew_db.* TO 'mibew_user'@'localhost';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
Copy the "config.yml.default" file to "config.yml" using the following command:
cd /var/www/html/mibew
cp config/config.yml.default config/config.yml
Open the "config.yml" file using your favorite text editor and update the MySQL settings with the following:
database:
driver: mysql
dbname: mibew_db
user: mibew_user
password: mibew_password
host: localhost
prefix: ${database.prefix}
options:
1002: "SET NAMES utf8mb4"
initQueries:
- "SET SESSION sql_mode='TRADITIONAL'"
We are now ready to run the Mibew installer. Open your web browser and navigate to "http://localhost/mibew/install.php". Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
We need to enable some Apache modules to ensure that Mibew works correctly. Use the following command to enable the required modules:
sudo a2enmod rewrite headers expires
Finally, restart Apache to apply the changes:
sudo service apache2 restart
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Mibew on Kali Linux Latest. You can now use the chat application on your website.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
