In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing Padloc, a password management application, on Kali Linux Latest using the command line.
Before you begin, ensure that you have the following:
Follow the steps below to install Padloc on Kali Linux Latest:
Open the terminal on your Kali Linux system. You can do this by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T
on your keyboard, or by searching for "Terminal" in the application menu.
Update the package list and upgrade the system packages by running the following command:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
Install the required packages to build Padloc by running the following command:
sudo apt install -y build-essential libssl-dev libgtk-3-dev libwebkit2gtk-4.0-dev
Download the latest version of Padloc from the official website using the following command:
wget https://github.com/padloc/padloc/releases/download/v1.6.1/padloc-1.6.1-beta-x86_64.AppImage
Make the downloaded file executable with the following command:
chmod +x padloc-1.6.1-beta-x86_64.AppImage
Run the Padloc application using the following command:
./padloc-1.6.1-beta-x86_64.AppImage
This will launch the Padloc application.
(Optional) If you want to create a shortcut for Padloc on your system, follow these steps:
Create a new file with the extension .desktop
using the text editor of your choice. For example:
sudo nano /usr/share/applications/padloc.desktop
Copy and paste the following text into the new file:
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Name=Padloc
Comment=Password manager
Exec=/path/to/padloc-1.6.1-beta-x86_64.AppImage
Icon=/path/to/padloc-icon.png
Terminal=0
Replace /path/to
with the actual path to the Padloc application and the Padloc icon file.
Save the file and close the text editor.
Make the new file executable with the following command:
sudo chmod +x /usr/share/applications/padloc.desktop
You can now launch Padloc from the Applications menu or the shortcut you just created.
Congratulations, you have successfully installed Padloc on Kali Linux Latest!
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
