Aptly is an open-source tool used to manage Debian packages developed by Debian developers. It is used to create a local repository, mirror packages from other remote repositories, and many more.
In this tutorial, we'll guide you through the process of installing Aptly on Kali Linux latest.
Before we proceed with this tutorial, make sure that you have the following:
Firstly, we need to add the Aptly repository to our Kali Linux. Use the following command to add Aptly’s signing key to your system.
$ wget -qO - https://www.aptly.info/pubkey.txt | sudo apt-key add -
Then, add the Aptly repository to your system.
$ echo "deb https://repo.aptly.info/ squeeze main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/aptly.list
Update your Kali Linux repository using the following command:
$ sudo apt update
Now, install the Aptly package from the Kali Linux repository by running the following command:
$ sudo apt install aptly
Once the Aptly is installed, run the following command to verify the installation and check the version of Aptly.
$ aptly version
You should see the version of Aptly on your terminal screen.
Aptly has been successfully installed on Kali Linux, and you are now able to create and manage your Debian packages with Aptly.
If you encounter any issues during the installation process or have further questions, refer to the official Aptly documentation.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
