In this tutorial, we will walk through the steps to install ArchivesSpace on Linux Mint.
The first step is to download the latest version of ArchivesSpace from the official website at https://archivesspace.org/.
Extract the ArchivesSpace zip file to any directory you like, such as /opt/archivesspace
.
sudo unzip archivesspace-v3.0.1.zip -d /opt/
Once extracted, navigate to the installation directory and run the following command to install all dependencies.
sudo ./scripts/setup.sh
After the dependencies are installed, run the following command to start the installation script.
sudo ./scripts/installer.sh
The installer will guide you through the installation process, such as creating a MySQL database, setting up a web server, and configuring various options.
Note: Make sure to remember the administrator password set during the installation process as you will need it to log in to the ArchivesSpace web interface.
Once the installation is complete, you can start ArchivesSpace by running the following commands in your terminal:
cd /opt/archivesspace
sudo ./archivesspace.sh start
The command start
will start the ArchivesSpace service, and you should be able to access the archives space web interface by visiting http://localhost:8080
in your web browser.
We have now successfully installed ArchivesSpace on Linux Mint. You can use the web interface to manage archives collections, import/export data, and perform other administrative tasks.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
