Cowyo is an open-source, self-hosted wiki software that allows you to create and edit content collaboratively. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing Cowyo on Linux Mint.
Cowyo is hosted on Github, so we will need to install Git to clone its repository. Use the following command to install Git:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install git
Navigate to the directory where you want to install Cowyo and clone the repository using the following command:
git clone https://github.com/schollz/cowyo.git
Cowyo requires a few packages to be installed on the system, including Composer (a dependency manager for PHP) and Node.js. Run the following commands to install these packages:
sudo apt-get install composer
sudo apt-get install nodejs
sudo apt-get install npm
In the cloned Cowyo directory, run the following command to install the dependencies:
composer install
Cowyo comes with a configuration file named config.example.php
. Rename this file to config.php
and edit it according to your system configuration.
cd cowyo
mv config.example.php config.php
nano config.php
Now it's time to start the Cowyo server. Run the following command:
php -S localhost:8000
This will start the Cowyo server on localhost
at port number 8000
.
Open your web browser and go to http://localhost:8000
to access Cowyo.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Cowyo on your Linux Mint system. You can now use Cowyo to create and share content with your team or community.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
