Tutorial: Installing F-Droid on Linux Mint
F-Droid is an open-source software repository for Android app distribution. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to install F-Droid on Linux Mint.
Before proceeding, ensure that you have an active Internet connection.
Method 1: Installing via the F-Droid Package
- Open the terminal on your Linux Mint by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T or clicking the terminal icon from the desktop.
- Add the F-Droid package link by entering the following command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:guardianproject/ppa
- Then update the system by typing:
sudo apt update
- Finally, install F-Droid using the following command:
sudo apt install fdroidserver
- Once the installation is complete, you can launch F-Droid by typing
fdroid
in the terminal.
Method 2: Installing via a .deb Package
- Navigate to the F-Droid website https://f-droid.org/ and download the .deb package for Linux.
- Open the terminal on Linux Mint by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T or clicking the terminal icon from the desktop.
- Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the .deb package.
- Install the package by typing the following command:
sudo dpkg -i fdroid.apk
- Once the installation is complete, you can launch F-Droid by typing
fdroid
in the terminal.
