ISPConfig is a free open-source web hosting control panel used to manage websites, email addresses, DNS records and multiple servers. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to install ISPConfig on Linux Mint, one of the most popular Linux distributions.
Before proceeding with the ISPConfig installation, we need to make sure our system is up-to-date. To do so, run the following command:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
ISPConfig requires certain dependencies to be installed before it can be installed on the system. Run the following command to install the required dependencies.
sudo apt-get install apache2 php libapache2-mod-php libapache2-mod-perl2 libapache2-mod-python libapache2-mod-ruby libapache2-mod-passenger php-mysql php-pgsql php-sqlite3 php-gd php-xml php-mbstring php-json php-curl php-zip php-bcmath php-gmp php-imap php-geoip unzip
Download the latest version of ISPConfig to your system with the following command:
wget -O ispconfig.tar.gz https://www.ispconfig.org/downloads/ISPConfig-3-stable.tar.gz
After the download is complete, extract the downloaded archive with the following command:
tar xvf ispconfig.tar.gz
Before starting the ISPConfig installation script, we need to make the installation script executable with the following command:
cd ispconfig3_install/install/
chmod +x install.sh
After the installation script is made executable, start the ISPConfig installation by running the “install.sh” script.
sudo ./install.sh
The installation process will take some time, and you will be prompted with some questions during the installation process.
After the installation is complete, you can log in to the ISPConfig control panel by navigating to the following URL:
https://<Server IP Address>:8080/
You will be prompted for the login credentials. Use the credentials provided during the installation process and log in to the ISPConfig control panel.
