Prerequisites

Step 1: Clone the OnTrack repository

Open the terminal window and clone the OnTrack repository from GitHub using the following command:

git clone https://github.com/inoda/ontrack.git

Wait for the clone to complete.

Step 2: Install Tomcat

OnTrack is a Java-based web application that runs on a web server. We will use Apache Tomcat as the web server.

To install Tomcat, use the following command:

sudo apt-get install tomcat9 tomcat9-admin

Step 3: Deploy OnTrack to Tomcat

Copy the OnTrack war file to the Tomcat webapps directory as follows:

sudo cp ontrack/war/ontrack.war /var/lib/tomcat9/webapps/

Step 4: Start Tomcat

Start the Tomcat service as follows:

sudo systemctl start tomcat9

Step 5: Access OnTrack

OnTrack should now be available at the following URL:

http://localhost:8080/ontrack/

You can login to OnTrack using the default credentials:

Username: admin
Password: admin

That's it! You have successfully installed OnTrack on your Linux Mint system. You can now begin using OnTrack to manage your projects.

If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!

Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
